Fab Valve Launch

News 4

fab-valve

Fabricated, fabulous design for exotic alloy valves.

Gosco is pleased to launch the new Fab Valve product line. It is a metal and/or soft seated valve aimed to serve the severe service valve market, specifically for high alloy applications.

The Fab Valve is offered in Class 150, 300 and 600, and up to NPS 6, standard port. It uses common internals for all pressure classes, and by machining only four components (body, bonnet and end connections) in any Fab Valve, you can change the pressure class, end connections, port size AND/OR the materials of construction – including exotic alloys. Take a look at the Gosco website to see how that can be done: http://goscovalves.com/fabvalve/#alloy/

Here are some great features you would like to know:

Size: NPS 1/2 full port to NPS 6, SP
Pressure Class: Class 150, 300 and 600
Temperature range: -50ºC/-58ºF to 593ºC/1100ºF.

• The most corrosive resistant spring material on the planet is Inconel 718. We matched all the internals of the Fab Valve to the springs.
• We have proprietary horseshoe plates that never come in contact with the process media. They are designed to bolt all the components together.
• We use the same Boronized Inconel 718 trim sets as our M-Class line – in fact, they are interchangeable.
• It is a truly bi-directional ball valve with no “preferred direction”.
• We offer an arcuate cut ball design to reduce the velocities in the first/last 5 degrees of opening/closing. This extends the life of ball and seats.
• There are endless Vari-V ball options for control applications.
• Any alloy option you can name, we can deliver.
We are taking orders now for the Fab Valve, and will ship in 18-20 weeks. That lead time will decrease as we bring in inventory, and will soon have an 8-10 week lead time. The Fab Valve is available to all current distributors on a NON EXCLUSIVE basis.

Gosco Valves Partners with Santa For a Special Delivery!

    News 9

Throughout the month of November and December Gosco Valves held a month long food drive competition. As a company we managed to gather 1,400 pounds of food to donate to our local food bank, The Oakville Fareshare Food Bank. In the spirit of the holiday season, we decide that it was only fitting that Santa Claus be on hand to deliver such a large gift. On the morning of December 19th, Santa along with his helpers loaded up the company forklifts and drove the 1,400 pounds of food to the Food Bank. The volunteers on hand greeted the donation with much appreciation “What a sight it was. Two forklifts carrying huge, gift wrapped containers of food! Without the support of companies and employees, such as yourselves, it would be very difficult to meet the needs of the almost 400 families we serve monthly.”

Two Is Better Than One?!  How About Three?! – The Tyco Split!

    News 10

It was recently announced that the big conglomerate Tyco International Ltd. is splitting up into three separate publically traded companies. According to Chairman and Chief Executive Ed Breen, the split into three separate companies, ADT North America home alarm business, Flow Control Industrial pipes and valves business and Commercial Fire and Security business “will give each greater flexibility to grow as it sees fit.”

Gosco Valves has been paying close attention to this announcement, as Tyco is a distributor for our Keystone Valves. Our Business Strategist Cheryl Duivesteyn commented on the Tyco split by saying, “as a company that works closely with Tyco, we at Gosco Valves are interested in observing how this split will better allow each company to grow on their own terms.”

Since 2008 Tyco and Gosco have had a third party licensing agreement. This agreement has sold several of our severe service ball valves under the Tyco Flow Control’s Keystone brand.

We are also pleased that Tyco will be featuring Gosco in an upcoming e-newsletter.

Gosco Valves Connects with University of Toronto Students

    News 11

As an avid promoter and participant of university partnerships, Gosco Valves was asked to offer employer insights to U of T students considering a research internship through the NSERC program. NSERC (Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada) is a federal agency which connects university students in sciences and engineering programs with Canadian companies who want to invest in innovation and advanced technology.

Cheryl Duivesteyn, Gosco’s Business Strategist, let students in on the secrets of what engineering employers like Gosco really look for when hiring student researchers.  Offering tips about how to connect with companies, build a resume, create a cover letter, and succeed in an interview, the students were interested to learn that attitude, dedication, and enthusiasm were equally as important as skills and abilities.

With its continued growth and drive toward innovation, Gosco Valves has unique research opportunities to offer students with its highly experienced engineering team. A project is currently underway with engineering graduates at McMaster University through NSERC’s Engage scholarship. Gosco Valves looks forward to continuing it’s partnership with NSERC and dedicated research institutions like McMaster and the University of Toronto.

    M-Class & S-Class Introduction

    News 13

Gosco Valves is separating its valves into two different product lines: M-Class (metal-seated) and S-Class (soft-seated). The M-Class line will be used specifically for metal seated applications, and the S-Class for soft seated applications. Several configurations will be offered in each line, such as, on/off, control, block and bleed, 3-way diverter, and FM approved. Seats aside, the M-Class line offers a more robust design to handle severe service applications, while the S-Class line, derived from the former Dual Pak Valve, is used for less intense processes. Make no mistake, however. S-Class can definitely hold its own.

The creation of these two product lines has improved Gosco’s internal operations by making it much easier to differentiate the various products and their features. The M-Class / S-Class division will also help customers by providing them with easier part numbers for facilitating purchase orders. Gosco Valves is constantly making internal structural improvements to ensure that we provide our customers with the most comfortable and innovative experience as possible. Please contact inside sales at (905) 825-2627 if you have any questions regarding the changes.

    Valves for the Aerospace Industry

    News 16

Gosco ball valves can be found in several unique applications around the world. When one of the top aeronautics research organizations came to us and needed a ball valve to perform in a 1 X 1 supersonic tunnel using an air system where the valve would see temperatures of 250 °F at 450 psi-g, we were ready to take on such a task

We provided them with a standard On/Off Valve (S-Class) in full confidence that it would outperform in this application. Since its installation in 2002, the research centre has yet to notice any leakage. An employee from the research centre was quoted as saying, “We are extremely pleased with the performance and will consider a Gosco Valve for any future process systems that we develop.” To this day, they continue to be one of the many satisfied customers of Gosco Valves.

    API 607 5th Edition Approval

    News 17

    Gosco’s M-Class & S-Class valves (On/Off, Vari-V, Cryogenic, FM) are now API 607 5th Edition approved.

API 607 5th edition was released in June 2005. It is a joint standard with ISO and is titled, “FIre Test for Soft-seated Quarter-turn valves, ANSI/API Standard 607, Fifth Edition, June 2005, ISO 10497-5:2004 for “fire type-testing requirements”. The basic test parameters are similar to API 607 4th edition with some changes to the probe locations and qualification of other sizes/pressure classes/materials.

For more information on API 607 and other approval ratings, please visit the API website at http://www.api.org

    Accuracy with the Vari-V

    News 18

A major manufacturer of lids for the food industry was developing a new lid in their Research & Development lab. The lab’s retort (pressure cooker) was using traditional control valves (rising stem globe) with a 3-15 psi signal. A problem arose when the control valves could not handle the retort’s pressure and temperature at the desired response time.

Gosco Valves was able to provide a solution that included our S-Class Vari-V Control Valve (with characterized V-ball) and a vane-style pneumatic actuator with modulating control. The 10˚ V ball resulted in tighter control parameters enhanced by the vane actuator and a 4-20 mA positioner.

As a result, greater accuracy was achieved by the retort to successfully develop the new lid. By using the characterized ball technology within our Vari-V, the R&D lab was able to use the existing retort pressure vessel, avoiding the expense of engineering and procuring a new, larger retort. This specific request goes to show the manufacturing/engineering capability of Gosco Valves being able to provide a quick and logical solution within such a short time frame.

    CRN Approval for On/Off & Vari-V

    News 19

The On/Off & Vari-V Valves (M-Class/S-Class) with detachable bonnet design are now registered in all provinces for the Canadian Registration Number. For further information regarding the Canadian Registration Number code or any other approvals, please contact Gosco Valves.
